I love train too! Happy to see few old railway photos taken in Tanjung Malim. You guys can relate the story in the first article. Happy to find out later Badan Warisan Malaysia has my book in their library! Hehe maybe we can collaborate for a bus exhibition?
“Making Tracks: Again” Commemorating 135 Years of Railways in Malaysia In 2005, Badan Warisan Malaysia commissioned an exhibition on the Malayan Railways; 15 years later, they are delighted to revisit the works of these amazing Malaysian artists – photographers Chan Kin Wah, Eric Peris, Soraya Yusof Talismail, Syed Zainal Rashid, Arthur Teng, Bob Teoh and potter Alex Tan. The exhibition also includes photos of the railway in Sabah by I-Lann Yee. In the age of sophisticated railways systems, this exhibition offers a look into many forgotten aspects of the old Malayan Railways – stations, godowns, quarters, bridges, tunnels and other memorabilia – many of which have been either obliterated or stand in silent neglect. My Journey By Bus | Otaru - Sapporo 🚌
💨🇯🇵 Travelling by train is easy and convenient in Japan, but I still love taking bus, especially long distance destination (more than 50 mins). Why? Free WiFi (for IG story), comfort seat, exclusive window view and get a warm thank you from bus driver. It’s a scenic bus ride from Otaru to Sapporo, if you are visiting, you may go there by train and back to Sapporo by bus. Just that you have to take the ‘ticket’ when you get onto the bus. Before alighting, look at the TV screen and pay according to the number printed on the ‘ticket’. If you don’t have small change, put 1000 Yen note into the coin exchange machine, and then drop exact fare together with the ‘ticket’ into the ticket box. PS 1 : Bus fare is slightly cheaper than JR train fare. PS 2 : You can also pay with IC (stored-value) card, such as ICOCA, SUICA, etc. Woke up at 5 am and drove 40 mins from Kushiro for タンチョウ (Red-crowned crane,丹頂鶴) before sunrise. Once the sun pops out, the crane taking turn to fly off to another field for ‘breakfast’. It’s was freezing cold, around -15℃, but worth every second waiting them to elegantly ’take off’.
PS : In Japan, crane is known as a symbol of luck, longevity, and fidelity. For a new born, new marriage, getting a new job, moving into a new house or birthday, Japanese will send postcard/photo/greeting card of crane(s) to show their heartiest blessings. I love exploring forest (enjoying shinrin yoku aka forest bath) wherever I go. Glad to be able to meet few wild Yezo foxs. They are cute and don’t attack people. Remember not to feed them, stay calm for photos and not chasing them. 🙏
